Find relevant information relating to the accessibility features of the WA Athletics Stadium
Before visiting WA Athletics Stadium, here is some important information to make your visit as enjoyable as possible
Toilets
There are two distinct sections of accessible bathrooms. One has three (3) accessible toilets located in the middle of the venue on the ground floor. Each accessible bathroom comes with a singular accessible toilet, safety hand rails around the toilet, a distress alarm pull chord for emergencies, as well as a shower that includes a fold out bench. The doors of the bathrooms are inscribed with braille, for easy identification for vision impaired patrons.
There are two (2) more bathrooms located along the backstraight of the athletics field. These are configured to include an wide singular toilet stall as opposed to a standalone accessible bathroom. These are also equipped with safety hand rails and a distress emergency cord, but showers are not present.
Parking
There are two (2) ACROD bays located in the southwest carpark, along with the regulation allocation of conventionally-sized bays. Please note that these bays often fill up quickly because of the number of para-athletes who regularly use this venue. For specific events, extra accommodations can be made where necessary to artificially create more extra wide accessible bays. The nearby Bendat Basketball Centre and Perth HPC venues have varying capacities of ACROD bays if solutions are not available on site.
Lift/Ramp Access
There is one (1) lift located inside the main grandstand of the venue. The lift provides access from the ground floor to the top level of the grandstand, providing entry to the designated accessible seating area and other amenities. For the rest of the venue, there are paved paths linking the entirety of the external venue, including access to the track from the main buildings.
Seating
There are multiple accessible seating allocations at the top end of the grandstand seating section. This area comes in the form of wheelchair bays, where regular seating has been removed to allow a wheelchair to take its place. These seats are accessed by the lift that links the ground floor to this grandstand. There is no formal process for reserving these bays, as ticketed events rarely require more seating than what is on offer. But if necessary, contact can be made with the venue to secure seating.
Ticketing/Companion Card
When the venue is in daily training mode, there is no entry fee into the stadium for spectators, regardless of whether they require accessible seating or not. When there are ticketed events on at the venue, there is a cost to enter as a spectator. The specific cost, and whether companion cards are accepted for valid holders, will change depending on the specific requirements and Terms and Conditions of the organisation hosting the event. For more information in the lead up to an event, please contact either the event organisation, or the ticketing department at the venue.
Assistance at the venue
If at any stage of your time spent at the WA Athletics Stadium you require the help of a staff member for any number of reasons, please be aware there are no staf available on the ground to provide clarity assistance when the venue is in daily training/local event mode. However, during ticketed events, there are any number of people on site to lend a hand however they can. If you observe/experience anything whilst on site at the WA Athletics Stadium that could be implemented/improved to make our venue more accessible, please get in touch with us and we will take action, so that our facilities can be thoroughly enjoyed by all..
